At North-West University, Prof. Dr. Martinique Sparksis an associate professor in the research focus area "Physical Activity, Sport, and Recreation." Her career in performance analysis began in 2009, working in rugby union as match analyst. Her PhD thesis was named "Internal and external match loads of university-level soccer players: a comparison of methods" and I finished it in 2015. They investigated various ways for describing match intensity, as well as fatigue and potential pacing strategies within soccer.Following her PhD, her efforts were focussed on the influence of fatigue on performance, hormonal, and psychological profiles in female soccer players. She was furtherinvolvedas performance analyst for the South African Women's Hockey team. During thistime, they qualified for the Vitality World cup in London and also competed at the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games. Recently, her concentration has evolved slightly away from GPS-based studies and toward large datasets involving video analysis and match statistics in football and hockey.
